When practicing under the confines of traditional medicine, Dr. Okereke saw patients on a daily basis who were having a number of similar complaints: they were feeling tired, couldn’t sleep well, had little motivation to get things done, were stressed and felt overwhelmed, had no sex drive, couldn’t lose weight, etc. They were generally unwell. However, with conventional lab testing, their doctors told them they were healthy, and that nothing was wrong with them.
Dr. Okereke knew that there was much more going on than what she had been taught in medical school and that these patients were indeed unwell, and needed help that no one could give them.
This was when she discovered anti-aging and integrative medicine – where a person as a whole is the focus, instead of just looking for the disease process and covering it up with medication. By looking for the underlying cause of these symptoms, and focusing on lifestyle medicine including hormone balancing, nutrition, exercise, stress reduction techniques and more, people can find relief in their symptoms and optimum health.
That is why she left the field of conventional medicine – to focus on her patients’ optimum health. Utilizing her advanced training in anti-aging and integrative medicine, her goal is to help patients achieve wellness and an improved quality of life.
